Patil is a member of the Indian National National Congress ,she is the only woman to hold the position as President . She has served as Governor of Rajasthan from *2004 to 2007.*

She was awarded with Mexico’s highest civilian award Order of the Aztec Eagle in 2019. Patil married to Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat on July 7, 1965. They have a daughter and a son .
